Illawarra Cutters prop Shannon Wakeman has embraced the idea of taking on a more leadership role in 2014.
The Berkley Eagles junior is in the midst of his third season with the Cutters having joined midway through their inaugural NSW Cup campaign and is pleased by the way the Club has grown.
The prop believes he has matured during his tenure and has put his hand-up to become a team leader if called upon.
“I have enjoyed my time here to date and it’s great being surrounding by players and staff who genuinely care about the Club,” said Wakeman.
“At this point while my hopes are to play first-grade I am having fun developing alongside some exciting players here.
“I am not sure if I am captain material but if given the opportunity I wouldn’t knock it back.
“I would like to take on a more senior role regardless of wearing the armband so we’ll have to wait and see.”
