St George Illawarra Dragons utility Peter Mata’Utia is excited by the prospect of playing in the Red V against South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium, on Monday.
The Bankstown Cougars junior admits it has been a tough week in Dragons camp but is confident the Red V team is closer than ever.
“It was pretty upsetting during the start of the week, but we have a job to do and we’re ready for the game against the Rabbitohs,” said Mata’Utia.
“Pricey has been a big part of our team for the past couple of years and the team have really bonded together and we need to keep moving forward and just do our job.
“He gave me my first chance in the Red V and I’m proud and very humbled for the opportunity he gave me.
“Despite the result last week, it was great to get out there with the boys.
“It has been two and a half years since I played my first NRL game, and I’ve been working hard and I’m happy to have been given the opportunity.
“It was a very humbling experience to pull on the Red V for the first time and I’m looking forward to playing again tonight.
“It is unfortunate that Brett has been ruled out, he is a great player and he played some great footy on Wednesday night.
“We’ve got some good young guys who can fill that wing position and I’m sure they’d be willing to step up for the opportunity.”
“Souths have a decent sized forward group but we’re very agile and we’ve been training well during the week.
“I’m just looking forward to getting out there with the boys and hopefully we can get the result.”
