St George Illawarra Dragons centre Gerard Beale remains upbeat about the team’s on field prospects ahead of the clash against the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium, Robina on Sunday.

The Dragons were defeated by table-topper the Penrith Panthers in a narrow four-point encounter last round but despite the set-back, the New Zealand international still has faith the Red V are capable of a Finals Series berth.

The Souths Logan junior has also welcomed the prospect of NSW representative duo Trent Merrin and Josh Dugan returning to the line-up fold for this weekend’s encounter north of the state border.

“We were in the game against the Panthers to the end,” said Beale.

“It was a heartbreaking loss but Coach said there were a lot of good signs in there and we took a lot of positives out of the game.

“This week we’re going up to face the Titans who are definitely going to be up for the challenge, so we just need to improve on last week.

“We know how important it is to get this season back on track, we have 12 weeks to push for the finals and we have a lot of belief here at the team that we can make it.

“It all starts here at training and if we perform well here, we will perform well on the field and get those two points.

“Hopefully the boys pull-up from Origin injury free.

“It will come down to what Coach thinks and what’s best for the team but I believe both will be in the side.”
