St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team halfback Shannon Crook has called upon his teammates to put in a better performance against the Newcastle Knights at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park on Saturday.

The Young Dragons met and were subsequently defeated 36-26 by the Minor Premiers in the final round of the regular Under 20’s competition season last weekend and ultimately placed fourth on the ladder.

This subsequently sees both outfits play each other once again and Crook has rallied the team to come out fighting.

“It was a pretty disappointing performance to be honest,” said Crook.

“We came up to Newcastle feeling confident and were the same coming into the game but it just wasn’t our day.

“One good point to take out of the game was our second-half performance was a lot better than our first-half.

“In the first-half I found it very tough personally and dropped the ball a couple of times and felt that we were defending a lot during that time.

“Newcastle might be coming into the game this weekend with all the confidence now but, having been there with those same emotions and seeing what happened last round, it’s up to us to use it to our advantage.”
