St George Illawarra Dragons second-rower Joel Thompson has been charged with a Grade 2 “High Tackle - Careless” by the NRL Match Review Committee on Monday.

Thompson committed the incident during the 71st minute of the 14-12 win over the Penroth Panthers at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Sunday.

The NSW Country Origin representative can either take an Early Plea, graded at 93 points, or contest the charge but if found Guilty have it graded at 125 points.

The Dragons have until midday Tuesday to make their decision.
