St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team fullback Matt Dufty has backed the defence against the Canberra Raiders at UOW Jubilee Oval, Kogarah on Thursday.
The Young Dragons enter the home encounter on the back of an impressive 50-0 victory over the New Zealand Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland last round.

Dufty has revealed it was Head Coach Mat Head who instilled belief in the team’s defensive prowess which saw them hold their previous opponents scoreless whilst competing at an unenviable time.
“It was tough to get the body right with the different time zones and having to play so early but it was a good result for us,” said Dufty.
“I thought our forwards really muscled up within the ten metre area and our defence really proved its worth.

“The coach has told us that defence is going to win us games and we can build our attack off of that so it’s good that it happened that way.
“It’s a great feeling to get two wins in a row but now we have to focus on the task against the Raiders.
“They’ve traditionally been a tough team to come up against both at home and away but the boys have rested from the Representative Round and are keen to play.”
