The St George Illawarra Dragons on Wednesday announced the re-signing of National Youth Competition team and former Australian Schoolboy representative Hame Sele until at least the end of 2018.
The local Kingsgrove Colts junior, who can play throughout the forward-pack, is a former graduate of the Club’s High Performance Unit (2009) who was invited to train alongside the first-grade squad during the 2016 pre-season.
Sele, 19, has this season featured for the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup and has previously been selected into the respective NSW U18 (2014) and NSW U20 (2015) teams.
“I am really happy to have been able to re-sign with the Dragons and continue my development here under the guidance of Head Coach Paul McGregor,” said Sele.
“I have played all my lower-grade football here to date and my goal now is to someday play first-grade representing the team I have supported since a boy.”
Dragons Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward is pleased by the local junior’s decision to remain at his childhood club.
“It is very positive to see a talented local junior such as Hame opt to continue their footballing development with the Dragons,” said Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward.
“Hame has risen through our junior systems, having started in our HPU squad before being elevated to the NYC ranks and this season featuring for the Illawarra Cutters.
“He is a very hard-working and disciplined young player who is always keen to improve and we believe he has a bright future here at the Dragons.”
