Illawarra will aim to defend the Tom Kirk Cup when they host the Newtown Jets at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday.
Coming off a strong performance last week against the Wentworthville Magpies, the Cutters will be hoping to continue their momentum when they face a tough Jets outfit.
Tom Kirk was a record-setting fullback in the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
An exceptional goal kicker, Kirk won NSWRL premierships with the Bulldogs in 1938 and Newtown in 1943, as well as being named the competition's leading point scorer four times.
The trophy is a sign of respect for Tom Kirk's dedication to Newtown, as well as a sign of respect to his son Ian Kirk for his service to rugby league in the Illawarra.
Play is set to commence at 3:00pm, with a short on-field presentation of the Tom Kirk Cup to commence at the conclusion of the fixture.
