NSW Wheelchair Rugby League star players face-off in Country-City clash

Shellharbour City will host the NSW Wheelchair Rugby League Country-City match on Saturday 15 May that will herald the start of the NSW Rugby League’s revitalised Country-City weekend fixture.

The representative match will form a key component of the program with games played across Sydney and Illawarra venues during the weekend of 15-16 May.

Both teams will showcase their skill and power at the code’s first representative level match since the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

Selection for the NSW Origin team and Australian Wheelaroos team is also on offer, with players vying to make the Wheelaroos team that will head to the Rugby League World Cup in England during November this year.

NSW Wheelchair Rugby League Chair and Wheelaroos Assistant Coach Edie George believes this match will form a vital part of the code’s representative calendar.

“There has been a long lead-up to this rep match and the players have been training hard,” he said.

“They are more than ready to rumble. We are also thrilled to be part of the NSW Rugby League Country-City fixture that has a long and passionate history in NSW”.

Proudly supported by Shellharbour City Council, the Wheelchair Rugby League Country-City match will be held:
