St George Illawarra are proud to announce Greg Young as the Red V member of the match for Round 7!
As a thank you for his dedication, Greg was showcased during our Round 7 home game at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Monday, April 25 and presented with a signed 2022 Dragons jersey.
Why was he selected as the Red V member of the match?
Greg is one of our longest serving Red V members with a tenure of 20 consecutive seasons and is also an inaugural NRLW member since 2018.
With his Full Season membership, Greg shows his support at all Dragons home games and frequently makes the trip to interstate and international fixtures to support his team. He even travelled to England for the 2011 World Club Challenge with his Dragons flag!
Speaking of his flag, Greg purchases an additional membership seat just so he has enough space for his flag, monikered the ‘Proud Dragon Flag’, which is on display at all the matches that he attends.
Who is Greg’s favourite Dragons player (past or present) and why?
Youngie’s favourite player is Billy Smith. He grew up watching, admiring, and trying to replicate Billy Smith since he was a kid. Billy was one of the smallest players on the field but never took a backward step when tackling the opposition’s forward pack. Billy always played with pride, passion, and honour for the mighty Red V.
