St George Illawarra have announced Haylee Hifo, Ella Koster, Jordyn Preston, Lily Rogan and Latisha Smythe as the Dragons' 2022 NRL Telstra Women's Premiership development players.
Their quintet's signings follow the success of recent Dragons development player NRLW graduates Jaime Chapman, Maddison Weatherall and Salma Nour.
The promotion of the five players is further proof for young aspiring female athletes that their rugby league dreams are possible coming through the Dragons' pathways.
Dragons NRLW coach Jamie Soward spoke about his excitement seeing talented local players reach the club's first grade squad.
"I'm really excited to play a role in bringing the next generation through," Soward said.
"Salma Nour was in our development system last year and she has worked really hard and now has an NRLW contract as due reward.
"When I first started, a big focus was for the Dragons to have a pathway to develop our own players as the Dragons will always look to build from within."
Hifo, at 19 years old, is already an international player having represented Mate Ma'a Tonga against New Zealand while local junior Koster created history earlier this year as the youngest Waratahs Super W debutant.
Preston is also local junior who has been involved in the women's Dragons Academy since its inception in 2021 while Lily Rogan (Illawarra Steelers) and Latisha Smythe (St George Dragons) have both impressed in Tarsha Gale Cup.
