St George Illawarra are proud to announce Rachel Moncrieff as the Red V member of the match for Round 23!
As a thank you for her dedication, Rachel was showcased during our Round 23 home game at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Sunday, August 21 and presented with a signed 2022 Dragons jersey.
Why was she selected as the Red V member of the match?
A member for thirteen consecutive seasons, Rachel attended her first game with her mum at Wollongong at just two years old and now goes to all home games at WIN Stadium with her family. Rachel originally sat on the hill for many years cheering on her Illawarra Steelers, but she now sits near the tunnel at WIN Stadium. With her two sons, mum, and grandmother, there are now four generations of members attending Dragons games near and far.
Her support for the Dragons is unwavering and is always shown through her actions by participating in many member competitions and promotions, as well as frequently attending member events with her family. Rachel had also donated her membership fees to the club during the 2020 COVID-affected season, further showing her commitment as a Red V member.
Who is Rachel’s favourite Dragons player (past or present) and why?
Rachel's favourite player is Trent Merrin. She first met Trent the first year he was in first grade in 2010. Rachel has a Dragons jumper that she has only let a couple of players sign, and in 2010 she wanted Trent to sign it as she could see he was going to be something special. Trent always made time for his fans and as Rachel's favourite player. Rachel was always there for a photo or autograph and Trent got to recognise her and her boys. He always acknowledged her boys, and he was also their favourite player.
