Jason was destined to be part of the Red V, born into a passionate Dragons family on the 23rd of April 1979 at St George Hospital, Kogarah; coincidentally the year the St George Dragons won the ’79 premiership.
For 22 consecutive years Jason has been a Red V Member, showcasing his unwavering loyalty and passion, which stemmed from his childhood.
Jason came from an incredibly humble and hard-working family, they may have not always had the ability to attend games but when they did catch the action many memories were made.
We didn’t have much but when Dad could afford it, we would sit on the hill or get as close as we could to the fence to catch the action, I have lots of memories there.
Nowadays Jason continues the tradition in attending all home games at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah with his family members and his brother’s family as well. His Dad also still comes along to games every now and then as he travels from his home in Bowral to Kogarah at age of 75 years old – this shows amazing commitment and importance of family from the Drury’s.
Even though Jason grew up idolising the Dragons and grew passionate about the game of footy he played rugby union for a large portion of his life. It was only after high school, that Jason decided to play rugby league within the St George District and for the North Sydney Bears. Despite playing rugby for majority of his life, Jason idolised many Dragons players and their style of play:
Nathan Blacklock was a fantastic player, who can forget his signature backflips!
Jason also rattled off a couple of significant players who inspired him such as: Mark Gasnier, Jamie Soward, Morris twins, Ben Hunt & Jack De Belin.
