John has been a Dragons supporter since he was a youngster, even though he was raised in Sydney’s west and surrounded by Penrith supporters; including his dad, John has treasured his beloved Dragons since 1968.
Passionate about football, John joined his local junior league with dreams of becoming a Dragon. Despite acknowledging his skills were not top tier, he relished the game. However, his initial club's red and green jerseys were not to his satisfaction so instead, John switched to another club that wore red and white – admiration and dedication at its finest!
As time passed John ditched the Penrith games and began attending Dragons’ games, was fortunate enough to meet some of his idols and to have treasure signed memorabilia from the “old boys” who are some of his favourite players, particularly Billy Smith.
As John’s family grew, his presence at games began to multiply, spending and cherishing quality moments with his kids, grandchildren, and wife.
“I used to go with my kids and also my grandkids, but they are all Parramatta supporters now...it’s just me andmy wife now, after 40 years of marriage we still go the games”
After 54 years of supporting the Dragons, many memories flooded back to John’s mind such as the 2010 Grand Final, day and night trips to away games, overnight stays in Wollongong after attending games at WIN Stadium and exciting member events, where he had the opportunity to meet and greet his beloved Dragons.

We have awarded him the Red V Member of the Match on his birthday Saturday 19th August during our Round 25 home game at WIN Stadium, Wollongong vs Melbourne Storm.
