To Marc Torbi, the Dragons are more than just a rugby league team; they are his passion, his blood, andhis very essence. A devoted member for more than two decades, Marc's love for the Dragons had been passed down through generations.
The Torbi family, without fail, make their way to home games at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah andWIN Stadium, Wollongong to support their beloved team. Most often, it is Marc and his dad but occasionally the whole Torbi family would join.
Marc's earliest and fondest memory date back to 2004, a match at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah, where the Dragons found themselves trailing against Manly but mounted an incredible comeback. Nathan Blacklock became the hero that day, and the Torbi’s were there to witness it all, a memory Marcand his family would never forget. Additionally, the 2010 Grand Final win, an electrifying day that is etched into his memory, a moment of triumph that would not be forgotten.
Of all the players who graced the Dragons' jersey, Brett Morris and Tariq Sims have held a special place in Marc's heart, their electrifying runs, tries and massive hits have made a mark on Marc's fandom. In addition to his favourite players, treasuring every piece of Dragons memorabilia is of high importance to Marc, pieces of history that fuel his appreciation and unbreakable bond with the team he loves.
A 2010 Grand Final jersey, adorned with the signatures of the 2010 squad is one of his treasured possessions and equally treasured is a jersey worn by the legendary Brett Morris himself. Both items serve as a constant reminder of his enduring passion for the club.
Marc's journey with the Dragons has been one loyalty and unwavering devotion, a source of joy, and a family tradition that would be proudly passed down to the next generation.
We thank you Marc for your continual dedication and passion for the Dragons!
We have awarded him the Red V Member of the Match on Saturday 2nd September during the last round of the 2023 season, Round 27 at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah.
