An Apisai Koroisau 40/20 put the visitors on the attack in the opening exchanges with Alex Lobb skying to score off a Jayden Sullivan kick to make it 4-0.
Their second came through Sullivan who finished off a Jahream Bula break to give the visitors an early double-digit lead.
The Dragons managed their first points of the contest through Kyle Flanagan who dove over to the left of the sticks after Tyrell Sloan leapt to bat back a weighted Ben Hunt kick.
Lomax added the extras as the hosts cut the deficit back to four 15 minutes short of half-time.
A Moses Suli charge set the crowd alight with the rampaging centre storming into the backfield from his own 20-metre line and shoving away from the cover before finding a supporting Lomax who stepped his way over and finished the break off with a textbook swan-dive and converting his own try to give the Dragons their first lead.
Lomax earnt the side a penalty off the following set with his determined kick chase obstructed by a Wests Tiger only for the visitors to hold off the corresponding raid.
Jacob Liddle was assisted from the field just shy of the break for a HIA – which he ultimately passed – forcing Flanagan into the hooking role momentarily.
Ben Murdoch-Masila went within inches of extending the Dragons' lead soon after off a Flanagan offload only for the officials to rule him held up over the line.
Alex Seyfarth was penalised for sparking a push-and-shove the next set with Flanagan denied his second off the back of it with video officials ruling that the stand-in rake made a second effort at the try-line.
Back-to-back penalties piggybacked the Wests Tigers up the other end with Seyfarth crashing over on the stroke of the siren to make it 14-12.
The Dragons snatched the lead right back on the other side of the break through Mathew Feagai who took in a Suli offload to dive over in the southeast corner with Lomax’s conversion making 18-14.
Liddle pierced through the middle of the field to put the Dragons back on the front foot the following set with Tom Eisenhuth throwing a fifth tackle intercept only to drag the opposing player into touch and regain possession.
Leilua was tackled without the ball off a Hunt grubber the next set resulting in Sullivan being sent to the sin bin.
Lomax threw over a gift two points to extend the lead to a converted try with a half-hour left before he threw his opposite into touch the very next set to earn his side another set.
Hunt and Leilua combined again off it to deliver the second rower his first try of the season in his 50th game as a Dragon as the lead improved to a dozen.
The hosts’ next came moments later through Hunt who pushed, stepped, and ducked his way over to make it three tries in 12 minutes for the Red V.
The Dragons’ flurry continued with Leilua snatching his second of the night down the left flank off a perfect Hunt grubber as Lomax slotted the conversion to remain perfect with the boot and make it 38-14.
Lomax was replaced on report for a mid-air collision soon after which saw Solomon Alaimalo assisted from the field before Seyfarth was denied his second of the night with video officials ruling a double movement.
Feagai grabbed a double of his own the following set after a string of passing sent Flanagan into the backfield who launched a pinpoint cut-out the way of his stepping winger for the four-pointer as the lead ballooned out to 30.
The hosts remained relentless in their attack the following set with Jack de Belin taking in a Liddle offload to steam into space only for the final pass to go astray as they remained in search of a half-century.
Lomax remained unrelenting defensively throwing Justin Olam into touch moments later with Feagai crossing off the back of it only for the try to be disallowed due to an obstruction.
NRL Round 14 Highlights: Dragons vs Wests Tigers
Lomax joined Leilua and Feagai in the doubles column in the final stages off a sweeping Sloan before his conversion cannoned into the left upright and over as the Red V brought up a memorable half-century in front of the WIN Stadium faithful.
Just 48 hours off his Origin debut, the star winger was far from done nabbing a late hat-trick off a Hunt kick and Max Feagai pass before slotting his 10th goal of the night.
His 32 points smashed the St George Illawarra record for most points in a game as Shane Flanagan’s men came away with a handy pair of competition points.
