KNOCK-ON EFFECT NSW CUP
Match: Dragons v Eels
Round 14 -
home Team
Dragons
7th Position
away Team
Eels
9th Position
Venue: WIN Stadium, Wollongong
A late Matt Doorey try proved the difference as the Eels came away with an 18-14 win over the Dragons in Friday evening's Knock-On Effect NSW Cup clash at WIN Stadium.
It was the fourth time this season that the side – who were riding a four-game unbeaten streak – lost a match in which they led entering the final five minutes.
A sloppy opening 40 saw the visitors take a 6-0 lead into the break courtesy of an Ethan Sanders try.
The second stanza proved a back-and-forth affair with both sides trading blows.
Christian Tuipulotu's 71st-minute four-pointer put the hosts ahead for the first time in the encounter only for the Eels to nab a late try in contentious fashion to steal the win.

JERSEY FLEGG CUP
A late comeback attempt fell short as the Dragons went down to the Eels 20-16 in Saturday afternoon's relocated Jersey Flegg face-off.
It took just one set for Ben Rumble to snatch an early lead for the Red V and continue his stellar try-scoring form.
A quick Beau Newlands double however saw the Eels take a four-point edge into the sheds.
Their momentum continued into the second half with Devonte Vaivela and Damascus Neemia both crossing to improve their lead out to 20-6.
Nick Tsougranis and Ashton Ward both found their way over late for the Red V, but it proved not enough with the Eels holding on for a four-point win.
