The Dragons once again partnered proudly with Squadron Energy to bring the 2024 Community Blitz to 11 local schools and two junior league clubs in the Riverina region.
Dragons stars Corey Allan and Tara McGrath-West were joined by Dragons Community Team on the three-day trip to the state's southwest.
School assemblies focused on the key messages of being the best you can be, looking after the environment, and how being environmentally friendly can lead to positive health benefits such as riding a bike instead of driving or packing package-free snacks in your lunch box.
Along with the school sessions, visits were conducted at both the Tumut Blues and the Gundagai Adelong Tigers junior rugby league clubs.
Squadron Community Blitz a success in Riverina
The partnership that the Dragons and Squadron Energy have formed has helped to support and fund visits to many of these regional communities in 2024 with plans in place for continued connection.
“Squadron Energy is incredibly proud to support the St George Illawarra Dragons in delivering this fantastic program to students across the Riverina region,” said Squadron Energy’s Senior Project Manager for NSW Jessica Petersen.
“Our team has seen first-hand the positive impact of The Best You Can Be program at school visits and clinics across NSW. They provide students with fun and practical tools to make good choices to support their own wellbeing as well as the wellbeing of their community and the environment.”
The schools visited included Jugiong Public School, Gundagai Public School, Bongongo Public School, Gundagai High School, Gundagai South Public School, Brungle Public School, St Patrick's Primary School Gundagai, Tumut Public School, Tumut High School, McAuley Catholic College Tumut and Snowy Valleys School Tumut.
