KNOCK-ON EFFECT NSW CUP

It may have come with its nervous moments, but the Dragons outlasted the ladder-leading Bears 32-20 at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.

A near-perfect opening forty saw Ben Woolf's men take a 26-0 lead into the sheds.

Ben Johnson and Savelio Tamale both snagged needed doubles as the Red V held on for a crucial pair of competition points.

JERSEY FLEGG CUP

Our Jersey Flegg unit snagged a key 22-18 win over the Storm at AAMI Park on Saturday to stay within reach of the Top 5.

The Dragons struck first just six minutes in through Ben Rumble who sent winger Tom Kirk into space from inside his own half before supporting up the middle to score.

Rumble was on the end of another 50-plus-metre effort moments later with Isaiah Fagalilo darting into the backfield out of dummy-half before finding a supporting Finau Latu who bumped away from the cover and found Rumble for his second.

Fagalilo found himself in the game again soon after shrugging and spinning his way over out of dummy-half off a powerful Latu charge to make it 18-0 a little over a quarter of the way in.

Back-to-back tries to Josiah-Ekkehard Neli and Delacruz Ripley saw the hosts cut the deficit down to six entering half-time.

The second half started in perfect fashion for the Red V with Ashton Ward sending a hard-running Campbell Watchirs through untouched from 25 metres out to improve the side's edge back to double digits.

Refusing to yield, Ripley nabbed a second for the Storm 50 minutes in to set up a tight finish, but Aaron Hertsch's men managed to hold on for a vital win.

HARVEY NORMAN NSW WOMEN'S PREMIERSHIP

The Dragons went down to the Knights 20-0 in their Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership clash at Hurstville on Saturday.

Quick tries to Elizabeth Montgomery and Jules Kirkpatrick earnt the visitors an early, double-digit lead before a lengthy stalemate.

Leah Ollerton finally crossed 48 minutes in before Aylah McCulloch went over to seal it late for the Knights.

The Steelers continued their strong opening to the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership season with a 36-0 win over the Central Coast Roosters in Bateau Bay on Saturday.

It proved their fourth big win in as many weeks as they look to close in on ladder-leaders the Magpies.

Maria Paseka opened the clash with a rapid double to put the visitors on the front foot.

Kaarla Cowan followed her effort a little over a quarter of the way in to make it 18-0.

Tori Shipton and Lily Rogan went bang-bang for the Steelers mid-way through the second period before Jordyn Preston scored to ice the win late.
