Dragons Lower Grades Wrap: Round 26

Check out our results from the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup, Jersey Flegg Cup & Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership competitions from over the weekend.

Both our Knock-On Effect NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides played in their season finales on Saturday whilst our Steelers' Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership outfit continued their charge towards the postseason.

KNOCK-ON EFFECT NSW CUP

The Dragons managed to end their Knock-On Effect NSW Cup campaign on a high storming past the Eels 38-12 at CommBank Stadium on Saturday.

The Panthers' win over the Rabbitohs on Friday evening put an end to the Red V's finals chances, but it did little to stop Ben Woolf's men from putting on a clinic.

Ashton Ward snagged a double in just his second Knock-On Effect NSW Cup outing whilst a trio of players appearing in their first game of the year made it count with decisive second half plays.

Knock-On Effect NSW Cup Highlights: Round 26

JERSEY FLEGG CUP

It proved a disappointing end to an up-and-down year for the Red V who went down to the Eels 40-10 at Eric Tweedale Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors got off to a hot start with second row partners Jack Quine and Jacob Halangahu both finding tries in the opening quarter of the game to give their side a 10-0 advantage.

From there, the tide turned decisively with the hosts storming home with seven tries in the space of 40 minutes.

Matthew Hunter and Domenico De Stradis nabbed doubles whilst Max Tupou, Ryley Smith, and Mohamed Alameddine also found tries.

Unfortunately, Aaron Hertsch's squad's year ended on a four-game losing streak as the injury toll mounted and experience exited the squad.

Nine of the side's 17 players on Saturday began the year in the SG Ball Cup with many set to re-join the squad in 2025.

HARVEY NORMAN NSW WOMEN'S PREMIERSHIP

The Red V's second-half fightback fell short against the Rabbitohs on Saturday with the side going down 18-12 at Hurstville Oval.

Tries to Paige Knapp and Daisy Gordon in the opening 10 minutes saw the visitors leap out to quick lead before Shanelle Lyons scored shy of the break to put her side up 16-0.

Brooke Tauaneai opened the Dragons' account on the other side of half-time before Hope Hutchins joined her on the scoresheet soon after.

Maddie Studdon knocked over a penalty goal an hour in to give the Rabbitohs a six-point buffer which ultimately proved enough.

The Steelers notched their third win on the trot downing the Sea Eagles 32-0 at 4 Pines Park on Sunday to stay in second position on the competition ladder.

Jordyn Preston and Indie Bostock both got on the board for the visitors in the opening quarter of the clash to make it 12-0.

Preston found a second after half-time before the Steelers' attack clicked into gear late with Mia Walsh, Hope Millard, and captain Lily Rogan all crossing in the space of 10 minutes to secure a key win.
