Dragons star in opening week of Pacific Championships

A collection of Dragons pieced together standout displays as the Pacific Championships kicked off in Brisbane and Suva over the weekend.

Rising star Jessica Patea was perhaps the pick of the bunch with the teenager bagging a try double in her international debut for Fetu Samoa as they took care of Tonga 30-16 to keep their World Cup dream alive.

Patea joined the Red V on an NRLW development deal prior to the season and spent the year with the Steelers Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership playing a key role in their charge towards the title.

Maatuleio Fotu-Moala built on a strong rookie campaign with the Red V going up against Patea and Fetu Samoa in the Fijian capital running for 84 metres from 10 carries.

Moses Suli enjoyed a standout night for Tonga despite their loss to the Kangaroos running for 185 metres from 19 carries with four tackle breaks.
