The initiative is aimed at fostering the continued growth of rugby league in the historic region and limiting the barriers for young children to participate in junior rugby league.

Junior rugby league offers a terrific opportunity for kids to make new friends, learn new skills, and enjoy the health benefits that come being involved in a team sport. The junior rugby league season kicks off on Saturday, April 5th in the St George region.

The district has nearly 2,000 players in competitions held from April to September each year in age groups from Under 6 to Open Age, and across three different forms of the game including Tackle, League Tag, and League Touch.

"This initiative is about making Rugby League more accessible for young players in the St George District," Chairman of St George District Rugby League Craig Young said.

"By providing free registration, we hope to inspire more families to get involved and encourage a lifelong passion for the sport."

"This initiative of offering free registration for players aged Under 6 to Under 10 is a game-changer for our district," St George Junior Rugby League President Leba Abihanna added.

"It not only eases the financial burden for families but also encourages greater participation in Rugby League at the grassroots level. We're incredibly grateful to the St George District Club and St George Leagues Club for their unwavering support in making this possible.
