St George's Harold Matthews Cup finals chance were put to bed with the side falling to Manly 30-6 at Kogarah on Sunday.

Manly got off to a fast start with first-half tries to Ashton Large, Kai Brennan, and Max Prykiel earning them an 18-0 lead.

Sifa Oldfield found their fourth on the other side of the break before Jasais Ah Kee got the Red V on the board only for Oldfield to nab another one late.

Harold Matthews Cup Round 8 Highlights: Dragons v Sea Eagles

The Steelers were handed their first loss of the season going down to the Roosters 12-0 in wet conditions at Mascot Oval on Saturday morning.

It proved a dour affair with neither side finding points in the opening stanza.

A Lachlan Metcalfe penalty put the Roosters ahead 44 minutes in before Filipe Fakauho found a try to give the hosts a handy buffer.

Charlie Webb crossed in the dying stages to seal the win for the Roosters as Illawarra's minor premiership odds were dealt an untimely blow.

The Steelers went one step closer to securing a Top 2 finish downing Parramatta 16-10 on Saturday.

The Eels leapt out to a 10-0 lead courtesy of first-half tries to Tess McWilliams and Armarni-Lea Auvae.

Billie Va’a got the Steelers on the board in the first set of the second half before Kiara Kostovski followed her lead moments later to tie things up.

It was standout prop Seriah Palepale who came up with the match-winner for the Steelers dragging several defenders over the line late in the contest to steal the competition points.

The Dragons were unable to reel in the Raiders in their SG Ball clash falling 42-8 on Sunday at Jubilee.

Tries to Mitchell Brophy and Jesse Milin saw the visitors earn a half-time lead before James Croker and Chaev Kolone found four-pointers of their own on the other side of the break.

Ratu Cayuqueo got St George on the board shortly after before Canberra went back-to-back with Jamie Cowling and Sylas Simon to make it 36-4.

Cooper Meldrum nabbed a well-earnt four-pointer for the Red V late before Hardy Glover crossed late to ice it for the Raiders.

SG Ball Cup Round 8 Highlights: Dragons v Raiders

The Steelers and Panthers played out a hard-fought 16-all draw in Lake Illawarra on Saturday.

Connor Sadler crossed for the hosts just two minutes into the encounter after Tyson Sangalang was binned for the Panthers before they managed to claw their way ahead with tries to Harry Wald and Kye Raven.

Saifiti Junior Saifiti crossed to tie things up for the Steelers before the seesawing nature of the affair persisted as Wald grabbed a second to wrestle the lead back the way of the Panthers.

Likamani Richter found a try for the Steelers just short of the hour-mark to lock things up at 16-all, which proved the final score.

SG Ball Cup Round 8 Highlights: Steelers v Panthers

LAURIE DALEY CUP

The Illawarra South Coast Dragons are the 2025 Laurie Daley Cup premiers having taken down the Macarthur Wests Tigers 27-16 in the nation's capital on Saturday.

Skipper Archie Wheeler got the Dragons on the board early before Kye Lynch scored to extend the lead.

Glassie Glassie came up with the first points of the contest for the Tigers soon after before Jack Talbott nailed a field goal on the stroke of half-time to make it 13-6 the way of the Dragons.

Talbott found a brilliant try of his own on the other side of the half to give his side a handy buffer.

The Tigers refused to yield however with Glassie snagging a second before Aidan Richards found a try shortly after to bring them back within a point.

Their comeback attempt ended there however with Beau Baldock nabbing a try to give the Dragons some extra breathing room before Wheeler notched a second to seal the title for his squad.

Talbott took home the John 'Choc' Anderson Medal for Player of the Match.
